Welcome To Choir!

Thank you for coming along to choir. Hopefully if you're reading this then you're wanting to join us! This page covers everything from payments, to website access and gives suggestions to help you get the most from choir. I know everyone joins choir with different goals. Some people just want a nice fun sing in rehearsals. Others want to improve their vocal abilities and musicality. Some people only come for the music. Others are here mainly for the friendships and community. Whatever you want from choir, hopefully we have the structure to help you find it.  Paul x

Payments

Payments: Basic membership is £20 per month (ongoing club subscription). This helps me run choir pretty much all year round and covers not only rehearsals, but also lots of other social events, gigs, workshops and parties, plus all your sheet music, lyrics, rehearsal tracks etc. Hopefully if you speak to any long term member they'll tell you it's a bargain. The idea of this membership is that it's cheap enough that if you miss a few sessions it doesn't matter.

Basic membership covers a choir session per week during term times. It’s completely fine to switch between sessions if ever you need to. If you decide you want to come to more than one session each week, then I just ask you to top up £5 extra for additional session. So for example if you come twice per week then it's £20 per month, plus £5 extra per week. Most people pay by standing order at the start of each month. Here are my details:

Name: Paul Bullen

Sort Code: 20-74-05

Account: 60560952

Please use your name as reference.

If you decide to leave choir then you can cancel membership at any time.

If you’re wanting to come more occasionally and not pay the membership fee then we also have the option of £10 per session (in cash or bank transfer). This rate is higher per session, because it's designed for occasional drop ins rather than regular members (who receive a discount!).

Events

All events are completely optional. You can take part in as little or as much as you like. In summer we sing at fetes and carnivals etc and we’ll also have a summer party and a summer concert. Then in December, we have our official Xmas concerts, our Xmas Party, carol singing, and other charity concerts. We also have a social committee, who’ll plan some lovely little events / outings too through the year (I’ve added you to their mailing list, but if you don’t want to be on it just let me know and I can remove you). It’s such a mix at choir: Some people come to everything, others just enjoy the rehearsals and avoid the other bits. It’s completely up to you.

Website Access

The members area of our website is: choironthegreen.com/members and the password is: hallelujah. Within the members area you can listen to all the songs, print lyrics / sheet music, learn harmonies and keep up to date on upcoming events (timings, set lists etc). If you’re keen to start learning songs, the general rule is: the closer to the top of the page any song is, the more likely we are to be singing it in choir that week!

Top Tips For New Members

Put your name on your folder, water bottle: So many are left at choir, but this helps for a swift return to you!

Print your lyrics / scores and file them in alphabetical order This can save a lot of time in sessions, which means more singing! The best kind of file is a ring binder, so you can easily swap the order of songs when a new one is added. Bring a pencil and then you can make notes. Or use an iPad? This can save SO much paper!

Avoid arriving early if possible:
