Biography

Paul has been Musical Director for winners of X-Factor and The Voice; he has duetted with Grammy Award winner Jason Mraz; played keyboards for Spice Girl Melanie C; and mentored young artists starting out in the industry including Aaron Floyd and The Voice Kids 2017 winner Jess Folley.

He began his career in television, working on various major entertainment shows including SM:TV Live, CD:UK, Fame Academy, Big Brother and T4. He worked in several positions: producing, filming, editing, writing scripts and interviews, casting, briefing presenters and studio guests, doing audience warm ups and looking after the welfare of contributors on reality TV shows.

Alongside this he would often return to his family’s music venue & recording studio in Essex to record live music videos for artists, and engineer studio sessions. He was fortunate enough to encounter a number of artists on their way to success including teenagers Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran. Paul also performed regularly himself and in 2007 Jason Mraz invited him to duet his international hit ‘I’m Yours’ on his UK tour.

In 2011 he left his job as Producer on the TV show Big Brother, to become Musical Director for Matt Cardle, who had recently won The X-Factor. They met during studio sessions and with Matt’s new found success, embarked on a UK theatre tour to promote Matt’s debut album. Live performances on X-Factor and other TV and radio shows followed… and many years and UK tours later Paul and Matt are still working together.

Alongside working with Matt, in 2013, Paul became Musical Director for Andrea Begley to promote her debut album after winning The Voice. Then in 2014, he met Spice Girl Melanie C on Matt Cardle’s Porcelain Tour and accompanied her on keyboards playing hits ‘I Turn To You’ and ‘Never Be The Same’.

He is now putting all of these experiences to use, mentoring and managing a new generation of talented young artists in their early teens. This includes teen pop singer Aaron Floyd, and The Voice Kids 2017 winner Jess Folley. His aim is to help them develop from great singers into creative exciting artists.

In his free time, Paul likes to keep fit and has run various Marathons including London, Rome, Paris and New York. He also teaches piano and runs community choirs, bringing people together to sing and get into music.
