Welcome to
Choir On The Green

Choir on The Green are fun, friendly choirs in for all ages and abilities. I started my first choir in 2015 as I'd moved to a new area and didn't know anyone. I thought it’d be a good way to make some friends! Since then we’ve grown several choirs and a lovely community, welcoming new people all the time. You don’t have to audition, and if you’re nervous you can just sit at the back and enjoy the music. All social events and gigs are voluntary too. The groups are really friendly and whilst our goal is always great sounding music, everyone and anyone is welcome. You don’t need to be able to read sheet music and if you’re not sure how well you sing, don’t worry… enough voices together and we always sound great! If you’d like to come along and give it a try, feel free to get in touch!

What To Expect At Your First Session

We have new people most weeks. Everyone has been new at some point so hopefully we're really welcoming! Your first session is free so you can see if you like it before joining.

WHAT TO BRING I'll give you music / lyrics when you arrive so you don't need to bring anything, except perhaps a water bottle if you want.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE Feel free to come say hi to me and then you can choose where you'd like to sit. We sit in 4 sections from highest voices to lowest. If you don't know where you fit, we'll take a guess and it's always okay to switch if you need! We start with nice simple, easy warm ups. Then we learn / rehearse songs. You can listen and join in when you feel ready. Everyone is going at their own pace, so there's never pressure to pick things up. It's so lovely and supportive, even the most nervous singers end up having a great time!

PARKING At all sessions there's free parking outside the halls. Sometimes our Friday morning car park can fill up, but if it does The White Horse Pub in the village kindly let us park there for free so long as we move cars afterwards (or go enjoy lunch there! It's a great pub).

ACCESS / TOILETS / INCLUSIVITY All venues are wheelchair accessible. We have blind singers, wheelchair users, elderly members and people with dementia. Whatever your needs are just let me know.

LEARNING SONGS If you want extra practise between sessions, the members area of this website has all our songs on, plus warm ups, vocal tips and other bits to help you. Some new members use this a lot to build their confidence. Others just turn up and give it a go. It's completely up to you.

IF YOU WANT TO JOIN Chat to me at the end of the session and I'll send you all the info. Most people join with a rolling membership (starting at £25 per month) which includes all your rehearsals, music and web access, plus optional events (gigs & socials). Hopefully if you speak to any choir members they'll tell you it's a bargain! We also have an 'on the door' option for people who can only drop by occasionally, but still want to be involved!

Hope to see you soon!
